11/15: League Cup

In Manchester United's first League Cup fixture of the season on Thursday, they came in looking for revenge against Aston Villa, after Villa had torched them 3-1 in the Premier League just four days before on Sunday. After a very uneventful first half, the game exploded into life in the second half. It didn't start out well for United, as just a couple minutes into the half Villa cut through the defense to go up 1-0. But just 19 seconds after the game restarted, United hit back with an equalizer! Now 1-1 and level again, it seemed like the next goal could decide the game, and things looked bleak for United again after Villa scored off a United own goal to go up 2-1.

But a few minutes later, Rashford stormed in with a wonderful goal to equalize again for United 2-2!! Bruno Fernandes put United ahead for the first time in the 78th minute off a big deflection, and then in stoppage time United sealed the victory to move on to the next round with McTominay putting it away off of an incredible ball in by 18 year old Alejandro Garnacho, a young Spanish born Argentinian winger who has really been impressing in recent weeks.

So after a 0-0 first half, 6 goals ended up being scored in the 2nd half between the two teams.

Here are the highlights of the game, it's a nice short 2 minute video:

The top two highlights were the Rashford goal and the Garnacho ball, here they are:
